Consistency – what does it all mean?

When you were growing up did you ever hear your mom say “practice makes perfect?”  I find myself saying the same thing to my kids, and they say the same thing I use to say – “ya right”

Why do we say “ya right”?  One reason I believe is because we are such a people of instant gratification.  If we don’t see results right then and there we tend to think things are impossible.  And all too often we never realize how close we are to reaching our goal.  We tend to quit too soon and never reach our full potential.

But there is hope, if we remain consistent in our efforts it will pay off.  Wow, mom was right.  Remember when you were trying to learn how to tie your shoes.  When you first started out you just couldn’t get it, it took forever, and then when you did get it tied it was so loose it came undone in a matter of minutes.  So often we find ourselves saying “mom, will you tie this I tried and I just can’t do it (or it’s not working)”.  Mom would say, “keep at you’ll get it”.  I don’t know about you, but I would get so frustrated when she would say that.  It would have been so much easier if she would have just done it for me (but that would not have been in my best interest).

Oh, how that same concept applies to business.  Sometimes, we try it for a bit and it doesn’t work so we give up or complain to someone else “I just can’t do it, it’s not working” (sound familiar).  15 years ago when I started in this biz I found myself saying the very same thing many times.

For all you who are successful “shoe tiers” (smile), you know that when you keep at something and have the determination you’re gonna do it, you will achieve success.  The same applies in business.  When you keep repeating the successful steps that have been proven to work over and over you will achieve success.  Being consistent in actively building your business every week is key to your success.  All too often it is the little steps we take that lead us on the path of reaching our ultimate goals.

Consistency – try it, IT WORKS!
